Several U.S. states (effective January 1, 2026 (for Texas) / May 7, 2026 (Utah) / July 1, 2026 (Louisiana)) have enacted laws that require app stores and app developers to verify user age categories and obtain parental consent for minors making in-app purchases.
Your state requires games like ours to verify a player’s age.
If your device reports an age of Under 18 or Unknown, we must limit access. This is required by law.
This age information does not come from our game.
It comes directly from the device’s age/parental-control settings (Apple, Google Play, or Amazon).
If the device is set to:
Under 18, or
No age provided, or
Parental controls are turned on,
the game will be blocked until a parent or adult updates the settings.
Why does this matter?
New laws require developers to:
Block gameplay for users who appear under 18
Ensure minors’ purchases have parental permission
If the device says the player is underage, we must legally follow that signal.
We cannot override it in the game.
Where does the game get the age from?
Your age is determined by:
The Account ID’s birthdate
Family Sharing child accounts
Screen Time / Content Restrictions
Purchase-approval requirements
Device-level parental controls
But I'm an adult! Why am I blocked?
This usually means:
Your device has Screen Time / Family Link enabled
Your Apple/Google account birthdate is incorrect
Your age information is not available
You are signed into a child account profile
Good news: You’re not stuck!
Update your device settings, then restart the app; it should unlock.
If it still doesn’t, contact us, and we’ll investigate.
My child is old enough, but still blocked. What can I do?
A parent or guardian must:
Check device parental controls
Confirm the child’s Apple/Google birthdate
Raise or remove age restrictions if desired
Restart the game
If the settings look correct but the game is still blocked, contact us, and we’ll help investigate.
How to unblock the game?
Step 1 – Check the device’s parental controls
A parent or adult must review the device settings.
On iPhone/iPad
Open Settings
Go to Screen Time
Check:
Content & Privacy Restrictions
App Restrictions
Allowed Apps
Confirm the Apple ID birthdate under Apple ID > Name > Birthdate
If the child is part of Family Sharing, only the Family Organizer can adjust their birthdate or permissions.
On Android
Open Google Family Link (if used)
Select the child’s account
Check:
App activity
Content restrictions
App limits
Purchase approval level
Confirm the Google account birthdate under Account Settings
If parental controls are turned on, the game may be restricted even if the player is older.
Can you change my device settings for me?
No. For privacy and security reasons, only the device owner/the parent/guardian can change device-level age or parental-control settings.
But we can help diagnose why the age signal is incorrect. Contact us if you think there is an error with the age restrictions.
