Portrait Events are a fun way to play and collect new portraits you can use as your in-game profile picture!
How does it work?
It’s simple. When a new Portrait Event is released, you’ll see an in-game message letting you know it’s live and ready to play.
The first time you see this, you can hit "Play" and you'll be provided with a very simple player walk-through that explains how it works. We'll explore it more in-depth here.
Your main goal is simple: play Event Cards to earn Portrait Crates, which fill up with Portrait Pieces.
As you unlock Portrait Pieces, you’ll gradually complete portraits — and once a portrait is finished, you can use that image as your player portrait!
Collecting Event Cards and Portrait Crates
Collecting Event Cards is as simple as playing the game! The cards are shaded with a special color and are marked with a Portrait Collection emblem — in the image below, it’s the red snowflake in the upper-right corner of the Event Card, indicating that it's part of the Holiday Portrait Event.
As you collect more and more Event Cards, you’ll earn Portrait Crates, which contain Portrait Pieces.
To view all of your Portrait Event information, go to your Profile and select Collections.

Here you can tap VIEW to see the Portrait Collection you're working on, or VIEW ALL to see past Portrait Collections.
From your Profile, you can also check the set you’re currently working on or browse all of your completed and in-progress sets.
Once you’ve earned enough Event Cards, you'll receive a Portrait Crate! You'll see the number of Portrait Crates ready to be opened on your Portrait Collections Icon:
Tap that and you can open your Portrait Crate to see what lies therein:
As you open your Portrait Chests, you can see your progress as you collect certain Portrait Pieces:
Once you’ve earned enough Portrait Pieces to unlock a new portrait, it will appear in full color. Simply tap it to update your in-game portrait with the new collectible image you’ve just earned!
How many Event Cards are there per level?
It varies. You may see a different number of Event Cards from one level to the next.
Also, keep in mind that some Event Cards can appear in the Draw Pile. If you’re close to winning and spot an Event Card there, you might want to stretch the level a bit by breaking the remaining letters into two or more words. That way, you can play a few extra cards and take advantage of any Event Cards you see.
You can always spot Event Cards by their special shading.
Also note that there may be Event Cards in any piles you purchase for Coins.
What happens with duplicate Portrait Pieces?
When you earn a Portrait you’ve already completed, that duplicate progress goes into your Recycle Crate. Fill the Recycle Crate and you’ll receive a guaranteed Portrait you don’t already own.

Keep playing those Event Cards, earn and open those Portrait Crates, and watch your collection grow. New Portrait Events will appear over time, so check back often and have fun collecting them all!
